Completion of the Third Iteration of the “Science Diaspora for Ukraine” Mentorship Program for Economists

Uliana Zbezhkhovska, 30 May 2026

On May 29, 2026, the third iteration of the “Science Diaspora for Ukraine” Mentorship Program was completed. This cycle was dedicated to supporting Ukrainian researchers in the field of economics.

The program ran from March to May 2026 and brought together Ukrainian researchers based in Ukraine with mentors representing the Ukrainian scientific diaspora abroad. It created a space for individual professional support, exchange of experience, development of research ideas, and strengthening of international academic connections.

During this iteration, mentor–mentee pairs worked on preparing scientific publications, including articles for Scopus-indexed journals, improving academic CVs, planning grant applications, developing research projects, career guidance, and expanding professional networks.

At the final meeting, participants shared the outcomes of their collaboration, reflected on their mentorship experience, and discussed suggestions for future cycles of the program.

Participants highlighted the individual support of mentors, the successful matching of mentor–mentee pairs according to research interests, openness to collaboration, and practical advice on academic development as some of the most valuable aspects of the program. Among the concrete results, participants mentioned new professional contacts, work on scientific articles, recommendations on academic CVs, consultations on career development, participation in workshops, and a broader understanding of international cooperation opportunities.

One participant’s feedback captures the spirit of this cycle:

“What I liked most about the program was its concept, which combines professional development, international experience, and individual support for participants.”

The “Science Diaspora for Ukraine” Mentorship Program is an important tool for supporting Ukrainian researchers who, despite the war, continue working in Ukraine, developing their research, and remaining part of the international academic community.

The next iteration of the program will start in September 2026.

We invite Ukrainian researchers to join the next cycle of the mentorship program.
