One of the outcomes of the “Science Diaspora for Ukraine” Mentorship Program was the involvement of students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Pharmacy at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University in the international research and educational project “From Insight to Design: The Art of Research Proposal Writing”.
Olena Pokotylo, Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmacy Management and Economics with Drug Technology at TNMU, successfully completed the three-month mentorship program. During the program, she worked with her mentor, Ivan Yurchenko, Associate Professor and Ukrainian researcher in pharmacy, who is professionally affiliated with the College of Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba in Canada.
As a result of this cooperation, five TNMU students joined the international project, where they worked on research proposals in English and developed their academic writing, scientific communication, and presentation skills for an international audience.
During the final online meeting, the Ukrainian students learned about research proposals prepared by their Canadian peers and presented their own work, which may become the basis for future qualification papers.
This example demonstrates that the “Science Diaspora for Ukraine” Mentorship Program creates space not only for individual support of researchers, but also for international cooperation, student engagement in the global academic environment, and new opportunities for young researchers.
