On August 24, Ukraine celebrates Independence Day – a day that symbolises freedom, statehood, dignity, and the resilience of the Ukrainian people.
Today, Ukraine’s independence is not only a historical event, but also a daily choice and a daily struggle. It is the courage of the defenders protecting the country, the work of volunteers, the responsibility of citizens, the strength of communities, and the development of education, culture, science, and international cooperation.
For the Ukrainian scientific community in Ukraine and abroad, Independence Day has a special meaning. It reminds us that science is an important part of national capacity, societal resilience, and the country’s future recovery.
Despite the war, Ukrainian researchers continue to work, teach, create new knowledge, develop international partnerships, and represent Ukraine in the global academic space. The Ukrainian Science Diaspora is part of this shared strength – a network of people who remain connected to Ukraine, support Ukrainian researchers, and help strengthen the voice of Ukrainian science worldwide.
On this day, we thank everyone who defends, supports, researches, teaches, creates, and works for an independent Ukraine.
Happy Independence Day of Ukraine!
May Ukraine’s independence remain strong, Ukrainian science visible in the world, and our shared future free, dignified, and Ukrainian.
