Ukrainian and international scholars, practitioners, and policymakers are invited to submit proposals for the 2027 Ukrainian Studies Conference, which will take place on March 18–20, 2027, at the University of Notre Dame in the United States.
The theme of the conference is “The Duty of the Good Life: Ukrainian Perspectives on Living on the Edge” The event will serve as the second biennial conference of the Ukrainian Studies Hub at the Nanovic Institute and will continue the conversations launched during the inaugural 2025 conference, “Revolutions of Hope: Resilience and Recovery in Ukraine.”
The conference will explore how the idea of the “Good Life” is redefined under conditions of existential threat – not as comfort or the absence of struggle, but as a moral duty to preserve dignity, humanity, resilience, and the capacity to build the future.
The organisers invite proposals that examine Ukrainian experience through multidisciplinary lenses, including:
- justice and the rule of law;
- science, technology, and security;
- health, resilience, and social integrity;
- identity, narrative, and cultural security;
- philosophy and theology of responsibility;
- business, economy, and total defense.
The Ukrainian Studies Hub is organising the conference in partnership with the Ukrainian Catholic University. The event is also administered in collaboration with Notre Dame Global, Notre Dame Research, the Department of German, Slavic, and Eurasian Studies, and other partners at the University of Notre Dame.
The proposal submission deadline is September 1, 2026.
