On May 29, 2026, an online meeting with Olha Zadorozhna, “How to Create Scientific Podcasts,” was held by the Ukrainian Science Diaspora.
Olha Zadorozhna is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Big Data Science program at Kozminski University, as well as a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Urban and Regional Development in Poland. Her research focuses on governance, institutions, and resilience. She holds a PhD from Bocconi University and MA degrees from Kyiv School of Economics and the University of Houston. Her current research interests include sanctions, economic and social resilience to crises, including Russia’s war against Ukraine, and the impact of institutional settings on firms. Olha is also the founder and host of the Policy Implications Podcast.
The meeting focused on podcasts as a tool for science communication. Participants discussed how to turn scientific ideas and research findings into engaging podcast conversations, how to choose topics and invite guests, how to structure an episode, how to keep listeners engaged, and how to explain complex academic issues in an accessible way without losing substance.
During the event, Olha shared her experience of creating the Policy Implications Podcast , a show that explores new research in economics and finance and discusses what it means for policymakers in the real world. The current season pays special attention to Ukraine, the war, the economy, and the institutions that will shape the country’s future.
Special attention was given to how scientific podcasts can strengthen the international visibility of Ukrainian science, help researchers reach audiences beyond academia, and create space for meaningful dialogue between science, society, and policymakers.
The meeting was useful for researchers, lecturers, PhD students, representatives of scientific institutions, and everyone interested in modern formats of science communication and in communicating research results more effectively.
We sincerely thank Olha Zadorozhna for an open, practical, and inspiring conversation, as well as for sharing her experience in creating high-quality scientific content.
