On 20–21 June, a two-day networking seminar for representatives of Ukrainian organisations operating in Poland was held in Warsaw within the framework of the U-SUPPORT project, implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) with the support of the European Union.
ICMPD (International Centre for Migration Policy Development) is an intergovernmental international organisation specialising in the development and implementation of migration policies, the development of migration management instruments, support for integration processes, and cross-border cooperation. ICMPD’s activities cover European countries and the Eastern Partnership regions, contributing to the development of sustainable policies in the fields of migration, mobility, and social integration.
Viktoriia Hurochkina, Chair of the Board of the Ukrainian Science Diaspora in Poland Foundation, took part in the event and presented the history of the Foundation’s establishment and the key results of its activities.
In her speech, she highlighted the participation of the Foundation’s members in the development of the Model Regulation on the Science Ambassador of a Higher Education Institution and Research Institution, approved by Order No. 568 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 3 June 2026.
The development of scientific and educational cooperation with Polish partners was also emphasised, particularly within the project of the Centre for Ukrainian Studies at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, as well as educational initiatives, including “Ukrainian Ethnic Capital: Identity, Trust, and Cooperation”, developed for the Global Coalitions of Ukrainian Studies.
The seminar brought together representatives of Ukrainian diaspora organisations to exchange experience, develop partnerships, and strengthen coordination in supporting the Ukrainian community in Poland.
The substantive structure of the event programme included:
- a presentation of the activities of ICMPD and the U-SUPPORT project, as well as the role of the diaspora in recovery, return, and reintegration processes;
- a presentation of the results of a study on the involvement of the Ukrainian diaspora in Poland in reconstruction processes;
- strategic sessions on the strategic planning of the activities of diaspora organisations;
- discussions on civic participation and the role of Ukrainians in host countries;
- modules on effective advocacy, communication, and inter-organisational cooperation;
- the development of practical recommendations for strengthening diaspora involvement in Ukraine’s reconstruction processes;
- a concluding session on validating the recommendations and agreeing on further steps for cooperation.
Particular attention in the programme was devoted to the exchange of experience, the development of networking, and the establishment of long-term partnerships between Ukrainian diaspora organisations.
Representatives of the Call Centre at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Poland also joined the seminar and provided up-to-date information on engagement with the Ukrainian diaspora and consular support.
The event began with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Participation in the seminar contributed to strengthening coordination between Ukrainian organisations in Poland, developing partnerships, and creating new joint initiatives in the fields of education, science, public diplomacy, and social integration.
