One of the key findings shows that the most productive Ukrainian scholars in SSH largely continue to work within Ukrainian institutions. Moreover, many of them have managed to increase their publication output despite extremely challenging wartime conditions.

These findings encourage a more cautious interpretation of widely held assumptions about large-scale academic migration. At the same time, they highlight the crucial role of international collaboration as a key factor supporting research activity.

The author expresses sincere gratitude to all colleagues who participated in the survey and shared their experiences. Their openness made this research possible. It was also a pleasure to meet some of them in person during the Virtual Ukraine Institute for Advanced Study retreat.

Although the results were initially intended for leading scientometric journals, the peer review process once again demonstrated how differently the realities of conducting research during wartime can be perceived globally.
