Iurii Sushch is a researcher at the Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT) in Madrid, Spain, working in high-energy astrophysics and astroparticle physics. He currently holds a César Nombela Fellowship awarded by the Community of Madrid. He has co-authored more than 180 scientific publications and has an h-index of 45 (Scopus).
He is a member of the CTAO Consortium, which is focused on the science exploitation of the Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory (CTAO), the next-generation ground-based observatory for gamma-ray astronomy. Within the consortium, he serves as deputy coordinator of the Galactic Science Working Group.
Research interests include:
- Acceleration and propagation of cosmic rays;
- Gamma-ray astronomy;
- Phenomenology of non-thermal astrophysical sources, particularly supernovae and supernova remnants, pulsar wind nebulae, and binary systems;
- Numerical simulations and theoretical modeling of particle acceleration and radiative processes in astrophysical sources.
