What this hub works on
The scientific hub “Animal welfare in surgery and reproduction” brings together researchers, clinicians, and mentors to conduct interdisciplinary research at the intersection of veterinary surgery, reproductive biotechnology, and comparative medicine based on high animal welfare standards. The hub’s activities focus on the development and implementation of minimally invasive surgical techniques, effective analgesia protocols, and perioperative stress control. An essential area of focus is veterinary field traumatology — studying the pathogenesis and treatment of gunshot and combat wounds in horses, as well as applying regenerative biotechnologies for accelerated healing of complex tissue injuries. In theriogenology and obstetrics, the hub concentrates on the ethical application of assisted reproductive technologies and the prediction of obstetric pathologies in livestock and companion animals. By integrating the 3Rs principles (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) and the One Health approach, the hub serves as a translational bridge between veterinary practice, human medicine, and biological sciences to enhance the quality of life for both humans and animals.
