On December 17, 2025, the second iteration of the mentorship program “Science Diaspora for Ukraine” officially concluded. The program was implemented from September to December 2025.
The mentorship program “Science Diaspora for Ukraine” is an initiative of the Ukrainian Science Diaspora aimed at supporting Ukrainian scientists who, despite the war, continue to work in Ukraine, maintain their research activities, develop scientific projects, and remain integrated into the international academic community. The program creates opportunities for sustained and meaningful interaction between researchers based in Ukraine and members of the Ukrainian scientific diaspora abroad.
Within the framework of the program, mentors, Ukrainian scientists working at leading universities, research centers, and scientific institutions abroad, provide individual support to mentees from Ukraine. This collaboration covers the development of research projects, preparation of scientific publications and grant proposals, career planning, and integration into international academic networks.
During the second iteration of the program, four mentor–mentee pairs participated. The limited number of participants allowed for a highly individualized approach and focused, practice-oriented collaboration tailored to the needs of each mentee.
At the final meeting, participants shared the outcomes of their collaboration, including:
- progress in preparing scientific publications and research initiatives;
- preparation and refinement of grant applications;
- development of professional skills and expansion of international academic connections;
- formulation of plans for long-term scientific cooperation.
The mentorship program “Science Diaspora for Ukraine” serves as an important instrument for preserving and strengthening Ukraine’s scientific potential during the war and for reinforcing connections between Ukrainian researchers in Ukraine and the global Ukrainian scientific community.
