Meet our mentor: Yelyzaveta Gorodetska

Yelyzaveta Gorodetska is a Ukrainian scientist working in the field of radiation oncology in Germany. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the OncoRay – National Center for Radiation Research in Oncology, part of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf.

Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms of radioresistance, cancer stem cells, BRCA-associated mutations, and biomarkers for precision therapy. She has authored numerous scientific publications in top-tier journals and is the recipient of several prestigious awards and fellowships, including the PhD Thesis Award, the Junior Clinician Scientist MeDDrive, and the Adrain C. In 2025, Yelyzaveta mentored Ivanna Prylutska, a participant in the pilot cycle of the Ukrainian Science Diaspora Mentorship Program. Under Yelyzaveta’s guidance, Ivanna received the FEBS Summer Fellowship and will complete her research stay in the Czech Republic.

"I am a trained biologist and currently work as a Post-Doctoral researcher in cancer research, specializing in radiation oncology at OncoRay – the National Center for Radiation Research in Oncology, part of Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf. I have supervised bachelor’s, medical, and master’s students from diverse backgrounds and countries, including but not limited to Ukraine. I would be glad to serve as your mentor if our research interests align."
