Viktoriia Hurochkina, 15 April 2025

As part of the scientific and educational activities hosted by the Ukrainian Science Diaspora platform, an open lecture was delivered by Dr. Renata Marutian, Doctor of Public Administration and Professor at the Department of Global and National Security, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.The lecture focused on the author’s concept of a universal matrix of national identity, aimed at deepening the understanding of national security strategy, historical memory, and the cultural unity of the people.

Professor Marutian emphasized several key aspects:

  • National identity as a semantic category of culture and an instrument for consolidating society;
  • Historical myth-design as a modern psychotechnology in the war of meanings;
  • The formation of a national dream, sacred heroes, and collective memory as a foundation for the state’s future.

In the context of an ongoing war of meanings, the lecture served as a powerful intellectual response to the challenges facing Ukrainian identity.

As Renata Marutian stated:"The histories of all nations are semi-legendary. But in choosing a version of the past, we are in fact choosing the future."

We continue to build a space of ideas and meanings together — in Ukraine and beyond.The lecture was especially important for representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora who strive to preserve cultural unity, uphold national memory, and participate in the global discourse on Ukrainian identity.The event became a vital bridge between academic science and Ukrainian communities around the world, who continue to carry the values of freedom, uniqueness, and dignity.

Based on the lecture, participants received certificates and:

  • In-depth knowledge about the essence of russia’s semantic war against Ukraine and effective tools for resistance;
  • A deeper understanding of the commonalities and differences in the formation of national identities;
  • Practical skills in using historical myth-design technology to construct a national worldview.

Thank you to all participants for your thoughtful questions, active discussion, and genuine engagement.We are shaping national consciousness — together!
