We are proud to share the success of Ivanna Prylutska, a researcher at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics, NAS of Ukraine, who has been awarded a FEBS Summer Fellowship by the FEBS Excellence Awards and Fellowships.
This achievement became possible through the Ukrainian Science Diaspora Mentorship Program, where Ivanna worked under the mentorship of Dr. Ielizaveta Gorodetska (National Center for Radiation Research in Oncology, Germany).
Project title: Investigation of the selective cytotoxic effect of acidic oligoribonucleotides and their derivatives using flow cytometry
Ivanna’s project focuses on the potential of naturally derived oligoribonucleotides (ORN) and their derivatives – particularly in the form of ORN-D-M complexes – as dual-function biological agents. These molecules show strong immunomodulatory properties and selective cytotoxic effects on cancer cells while sparing normal cells. Her research will use flow cytometry to investigate the mechanisms behind this selective action.
Host institution: Dr. Karel Souček’s Lab, Department of Cytokinetics, Institute of Biophysics, Czech Academy of Sciences, Brno
Research stay: September 1 – October 30, 2025This milestone highlights the power of cross-border scientific collaboration and the importance of support networks for Ukrainian researchers during the war.
Join the next cycle of the Ukrainian Science Diaspora Mentorship Program!
Registration is open until August 25, 2025.
