"The Ukrainian Science Diaspora" at the All-Ukrainian Forum "Days of Educational Leadership"

The second day of the All-Ukrainian Forum for Educational Leadership held on 2 June 2023 was incredibly eventful. Speakers from all over Ukraine and compatriots representing the Ukrainian science diaspora were welcomed by the National University "Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic."

The forum was opened by Viktor Hreshta, the director of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, who highlighted the significance of upholding the education and educational activities quality for the university's management. Among the priority areas of development of the National University "Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic" at present, Viktor Leonidovych highlighted the establishment of an open new educational, research, and informational environment to train specialists of the new generation with a broad spectrum of essential knowledge and competencies, as well as for scientific and innovative advancements and integration into the international educational and scientific space.

Olha Polotska, Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, shared her personal experience of managing an institution during the war, the principles of making quick and risky decisions, and maintaining resilience in times of crisis.

Iryna Zolotariova, member of the National Team of Experts of Ukraine on Higher Education Reform, member of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, pointed out the relevance of creating a strategy for the digital development of universities, revealed the main components of the institutional strategy of digital learning and teaching, emphasising the flexibility of using information and communication technologies. Zoriana Lutsyshyn, member of the SEG 29 of the Nazyavo, considered the issue of strategic planning of educational programmes as a basis for modernising the management of educational activities.

She focused on the problem of motivation of academic staff, skills and professions of the future, as well as new approaches to the management of educational activities.

Oksana Bilous, a member of the NAZIAVO's CEP 10, highlighted European approaches to designing educational programmes, presenting the case studies of the University of Vienna.

Ivan Balykin, an educational expert and co-founder of the NGO «Progressylni», stressed that rankings are an important international tool for assessing the quality of education, and that leaders of higher education institutions indicate development benchmarks and motivate.

Ellana Molchanova, Chair of the 292nd NMC of the Ministry of Education and Science, discussed the topic of Creating an Inclusive University Climate. The concepts of inclusion, creating a barrier-free educational environment, examples of non-inclusiveness, and technologies for implementing inclusiveness on web resources were discussed.

Mykyta Andreiev, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Association of Adult Education, member of the NAQA, discussed stereotypes that are widespread in society regarding adult education and paid special attention to the draft law "On Adult Education".

Lidiia Fesenko, a member of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, discussed the topic of civic education as an integral part of the university environment.

Iryna Hryshchenko's report focused on the social mission of universities and the development of the leadership potential of society.

Igor Lyman discussed the Ukrainian Science Diaspora initiative launched by the Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science and Scholar Support Office. The speaker's report emphasised that this is an opportunity to encourage the return of Ukrainian scientists, unite researchers and improve the image of Ukrainian science.

Yulia Piskorska, Special Projects Coordinator at Education USA Ukraine, discussed opportunities for cooperation between students and teachers from the United States and Ukraine through COIL virtual exchanges, which develop soft skills and intercultural communication.

Olena Huzar shared her expert experience, outlining the fundamentals of becoming a leader, conveying personal opinions, asking effective questions, and inspiring trust.
