A meeting with Ukrainian scientists was held at the Embassy of Ukraine in Finland

Ukrainalaisten yhdistys Suomessa ry, 07 March 2026

On February 3, the Ambassador of Ukraine Mykhailo Vydoinyk, together with members of the Ukrainalaisten yhdistys Suomessa ry / Асоціація українців у Фінляндії and its Chairman Vasyl Hutsul, gathered at the Embassy Ukrainian scientists and teachers working in Finnish higher education and research institutions. A very interesting and meaningful conversation took place.

During the meeting, the Ambassador and scientists discussed topical issues of developing cooperation between Ukrainian and Finnish scientists and institutions, the possibilities of conducting joint research, and supporting scientific initiatives. Ukrainian scientists shared their own experience of involvement and work in Finnish universities, and also outlined the prospects and opportunities for joint projects and academic exchanges. An important result was the development of future joint initiatives, in particular, the creation of an online platform that will help Ukrainian scientists, scholars, and scientific and pedagogical workers receive up-to-date information on Finnish and international grants.

The Head of the Department of International Relations of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland, Kirsi Lindroos, who has been an active supporter of Ukraine for many years, also attended the second part of the meeting. Kirsi informed the attendees about the latest plans of the Finnish government programs to support Ukrainian education and schooling.

They discussed in detail the further implementation of the already launched Ukrainian-Finnish projects, in particular, involvement in the reform of the school nutrition system in Ukraine, and the possibilities for launching new initiatives - teaching the history of Ukraine in Finnish higher education institutions, as interest in Ukrainian history and language is increasingly growing among the Finnish population.

Taking this opportunity, the Ambassador asked Ms. Kirsi Lindroos to assist in conducting a national multi-subject test for Ukrainian children in various cities and communities in Finland.

We thank all the participants of this meeting, as science and education are a key factor in the sustainable development, innovation and restoration of Ukraine.
