12th AAAS-TWAS Course on Science Diplomacy

This year, for the second time, the co-founders of the Ukrainian Science Diaspora initiative – Yevheniia Polishchuk and Ihor Lyman – served as experts in the selection process for participants of the 12th Course on Science Diplomacy, organized in Trieste, Italy, under the auspices of UNESCO by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS).

In addition to the co-founders of the Ukrainian Science Diaspora initiative, the 2025 selection committee included scientists and policymakers from Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Estonia, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Moldova, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Serbia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and the United States.

Participants selected for this year’s course represented Bolivia, Brazil, Cameroon, Egypt, Kenya, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka.

Yevheniia Polishchuk and Ihor Lyman were invited to join the panel of experts after participating in the 10th AAAS-TWAS Course on Science Diplomacy in Trieste in 2023. The photo from the official AAAS-TWAS website was taken during that year’s event.
