In today’s world, shaped by globalization, migration, information oversaturation, and hybrid challenges, the question of national identity becomes especially important. How can we foster a strong and sustainable sense of belonging to a nation, particularly within diaspora communities? How can individual and collective identities be aligned with national consciousness?
In her lecture, Prof. Rena Rubenivna Marutian will explore the concept of the “matrix of national identity” as a structural and semantic foundation that shapes the perception of oneself as part of a national community. The lecturer will present semantic instruments that help construct this matrix, including:
-historical memory and narratives;
-language as an identification code;
-cultural codes and symbolism;
-educational practices and scholarly concepts;
-public policy and national strategies.
👥 Special attention will be given to the role of the scientific and educational diaspora in preserving and transmitting national identity in foreign environments.
This lecture will be valuable for researchers, educators, students, civil society actors, and anyone interested in cultural policy, public administration, Ukrainian studies, and identity formation in the face of modern challenges.
